On Saturday night, the Kansas Jayhawks defeated the Villanova Wildcats in the Final Four to book a spot in the NCAA National Championship Game.

Kansas alum Paul Pierce celebrated with a glass of champagne.

By Sunday morning, Paul was boarding a flight to New Orleans.

And on Sunday night, The Truth spoke to the Jayhawks about the opportunity in front of them, and going out there to represent those that came before them, many of whom, like Paul, never got the chance to play for a National Title.

“You all have a chance to do something special, that’s gonna last forever. That’s gonna last forever. They’re gonna talk about it forever,” Truth said. “You all represent guys like me who didn’t have a chance to play in this game. Because when you all go out there, I feel like I’m winning. I feel like I won last night. I’m jumping up in front of people looking at me crazy, no matter where I am.”

Paul noted how being a Kansas alum is an entirely different vibe and a brotherhood that links people together all over the country.

“You all represent family, you all represent the culture, and you all represent a tradition here. I know you all don’t see me a lot as far as at games, but former players, we watch from afar. We always keep up. That’s what Kansas basketball is about. We’re a culture. We’re a family. If you all in the street and (see) whoever went to Kansas University, it’s always “Rock Chalk” — boom — and keep walking. They understand, it’s an understanding they have.”

Most of all he encouraged the young men in the room to savor the experience, one he never got as a student athlete.

“Enjoy the moment. These moments don’t come around like this. Like I said, I didn’t have a chance to play in this game. This is big. Soak it all in, enjoy with friends and family, get you’re rest. Know what you’re all here to do, though. Know what you’re here to do: Accomplish something special that’s going to last the rest of your life.”
