Max Kellerman joined NBA Countdown and created some waves by saying that Kevin Durant is not currently a top-five player in the NBA, citing his Player Efficiency Rating (PER) as evidence that several other stars should be considered better than the two-time Finals MVP.

While Kellerman made a convincing argument based on the statistics he brought, Paul Pierce would still want Durant to have the ball in his hands in the final three minutes of a ball game.

“PER can’t define a player,” Pierce said. “If you look at the players on that list, of all the players on that list, who do you want in the last three minutes of a game? Kevin Durant. We’re talking about in championship moments, playoff moments.”
