The Oklahoma City Thunder put together a disappointing season after bringing in Paul George and Carmelo Anthony to pair with Russell Westbrook last summer. Paul Pierce summed it up for their collective mindset.

“They definitely know they didn’t fulfill expectations. To lose in the first round to a team led by a rookie – you have to think about ‘what is the upside for OKC moving forward?’ You’re going to get Melo back, but is he going to take that lesser role?”

Paul knows what it’s like for a player at the end of their career to sacrifice part of their role and thinks it would be beneficial if Melo did the same.

“I think he should be open to anything. There is no question about if Carmelo is a starter in this league, but is this the right fit?”
