After the Golden State Warriors dismantled the New Orleans Pelicans in Game 1 on Saturday night, Paul Pierce dissected how they were able to win so handedly even without two-time MVP Stephen Curry.

“They move the ball so well, four to five passes gets an open shot and that is hard to scout against and if all else fails, get it to Kevin Durant.”

The Pelicans had success doubling Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum in the first round and letting the rest of the Portland Trailblazers try to beat them. That is a strategy that is not going to work in this matchup against another animal in the Warriors, even without Steph Curry.

“It’s just tough. Steph, no Steph. KD, no KD. The system with the way they move the ball with guys that can pass and shoot, guys with high IQs. That’s why they’re so good.”
