The New York Knicks surprisingly dealt budding star Kristaps Porzingis last season, and now that the Latvian big man is back on the court, the potential of Porzingis playing alongside second-year guard Luka Doncic for years to come is a tantalizing scenario that could make the Knicks regret this trade for years to come.

Paul Pierce believes that this trade may have set the Knicks rebuild back at least another 10 years because of losing a generational talent like Porzingis.

“If I’m a Knicks fan, I would feel devastated because you only can win when you have that superstar, that unicorn guy, that generational talent, and Porzingis is a generational talent,” Pierce said. “When you lose something like that, a 7-footer with a skill level and shooting ability, something you can build around, have hope for for the future, it just sets the Knicks back another 10 years.”
