by PaulPierce.net Staff

On November 16th, the Truth teamed up with his all-star teammates and celebrities at the second annual USI The Truth Strikes Again celebrity charity bowling tournament at the newly-opened Kings Lanes in Dedham's Legacy Place. The event raised more than $200,000 for Pierce's Truth on Health Campaign and FitClub34 by Harvard Pilgrim.

The star-studded event featured a VIP reception, live and silent auctions and a host of past and current players and team executives from Boston's professional sports teams and other celebrities with ties to Greater Boston.

The all-star lineup of celebrities who participated in the tournament included Pierce's teammates Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Rasheed Wallace, Rajon Rondo, Kendrick Perkins, Glen "Big Baby" Davis, Eddie House, Marquis Daniels, Tony Allen, Brian Scalabrine, Lester Hudson, Bill Walker, Co-owners and Managing Partners Wyc Grousbeck, Steve Pagliuca and Robert Epstein, Team President Rich Gotham, and alumni Jo Jo White and Dana Barros; New England Patriots Wes Welker, Brandon McGowan, Eric Alexander and Kyle Arrington; New England Revolution players Matt Reis, Taylor Twellman, Chris Tierney, Kheli Dube, Mike Videira and Chris Albright; Celebrity Chef Ming Tsai; Lyons Group President Patrick Lyons and CEO Ed Sparks; WAAF-FM morning radio personality Greg Hill; and many more!

"Staying active and eating healthy have been very important to my success, so I think it's critical for kids to understand that exercise and nutrition are one of the keys to leading a happy and fulfilling life," said Paul. "I'm thrilled by the success of this year's Truth Strikes Again tournament, grateful for the support we received from our sponsors and pleased to raise money for an issue that is so important to me. Particular thanks go to USI, Harvard Pilgrim and Liberty Bay Credit Union."

Prior to the main event, Paul hosted a bowling party with future FitClub34 members and kids from CAVU's healthy weight initiative program. Pierce spoke to the kids about his Truth on Heath Campaign and gave them tips on how to lead healthier lifestyles.

The annual "Truth Strikes Again" fundraising event benefits Paul's Truth on Health Campaign and FitClub34 by Harvard Pilgrim. The Truth on Health Campaign was established to help empower and encourage young people to lead healthier lifestyles, in an effort to prevent obesity. The program includes an awareness campaign and sustainable programming for young people to live healthy lifestyles - incorporating physical fitness, healthy eating, and
encouraging a commitment of 60 minutes per day dedicated to physical activity.

The seven-time NBA All-Star personally oversees the Truth on Health's signature component, FitClub34 by Harvard Pilgrim, a web-based fan club turned "fit" club that provides children with the information, resources, and tools necessary to become more active and physically fit.

The program encourages and incentivizes 10-14 year-olds from New England and across the country to make a one-year pledge to eat healthy and engage in sixty-minutes of daily physical activity. FitClub34 provides monthly challenges, healthy recipes and reward-based incentives for kids who participate in the program. Children can sign up to be a part of FitClub34 here at www.paulpierce.net.

This year's Truth Strikes Again and Truth on Health sponsors include USI Insurance, CAVU, Liberty Bay Credit Union, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, The Shamrock Foundation, Raptor Capital Management, The Pagliuca Family, Kings Lanes, Powerade, The Rotondi Family, Liberty Hotel, Beth Weir, Nico, Strega, From You Flowers, Rockstar Limo, ProPrint, Nike, Comcast, Comcast SportsNet, Dexter, Best Buy, WAAF-FM, The Boston Globe and Modell's.
