Truth, Cs Look to Get Well With Win
by
Ward Lucas
As they approach the mid-mark of the NBA season, Paul Pierce and the Boston Celtics (26-10) enter the Izod Center in New Jersey tonight looking for a road victory against the last place New Jersey Nets (3-34).
The Celtics will have critical personnel missing from their starting lineup, but should have plenty of ammunition to cut down the Nets. CBSsports.com reported:
"The Boston Celtics have been stumbling as they deal with injuries to a number of their stars, but a road game against the NBA’s worst team should provide a welcome respite."
The Captain has returned to the line-up after knee surgery, but the team will still be short-staffed as Kevin Garnett and Rasheed Wallace are both out with a knee and a foot injury, respectively.
Without two of his top cohorts in place, The Truth will have a chance to take the lead tonight as he continues to mend from his knee injury.
No. 34 has logged more than 40 minutes in three of the four games since his return and is averaging 18.3 points per game over those four contests.
Boston has also already beaten New Jersey in their only matchup this season. On November 7, The Cs handed the Nets a 10-point loss in New Jersey, 86-76. The Captain scored 16 points and had seven assists in the win.
GAME TIME
Paul and Celts will attempt to get well against the New Jersey Nets on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. EST at the Izod Center. The game can be seen locally on CSNHD and will also be aired on WEEI.
