However, without Kevin Garnett, the Boston Celtics weren't able to overcome a sloppy third quarter, falling 99-90 to the Dallas Mavericks. The loss marked the third straight at home for Boston.
The Captain led the team in scoring with 24 points. He also grabbed two rebounds, dished three assists, and swiped two steals in 35 minutes of play.
No. 34 said after the game the Cs need to refocus on defense in order to be success on the court. As he told The Boston Herald:
"We've got to understand that we're a defensive team first, regardless of who we put on the floor at the end of the night," said Paul Pierce, who scored a team-high 24 points. "That's regardless of if we shoot the ball well or not. We are a defensive team, and that's what we have to continue to understand with the guys that are out."
