Paul, Celts Take on Suns

The best in the Pacific Division meet the best in the Atlantic on Friday night in Boston when the Phoenix Suns (4-1) come to town to face off against Paul Pierce and the unbeaten Celtics.
The Suns are hungry to beat the Celtics after a humiliating loss to the Orlando Magic Wednesday night. But the Celtics have won three straight games against Phoenix, and history shows that the Suns stand no chance against the Celtic pride, especially without the benefit of home court. A NESN.com blogger reports:
“This road trip is quite the gut check for the once-undefeated Suns. All was going well for them at home, but this road swing takes them on a tour of four solid Eastern Conference teams—Orlando, Boston, Washington and Philadelphia—that will surely test them. The Celtics should consider themselves lucky. They’re taking on a Phoenix team that’s sure to be weakened after enduring a rigorous travel schedule. The C’s are playing in the comfort of their own home, and they should be the favorites on Friday night.”
THE TRUTH AND HIS REINFORCEMENTS
The Truth is expected to be in top form after a much-needed rest for the Celtics on Thursday.
Fans can expect nothing less than 100 percent from Paul after he led the Cs to stomp the Suns in a two-game series last season, averaging 19 points per game. Overall in his career against Phoenix, No. 34 has averaged 26.4 points per game.
The Captain and his starting five plan to hand the Suns their second defeat of the season. As the Phoenix New Times reports, the Suns will be meeting with the new-look Celts for the very first time.
“This will be the Suns’ first look in ‘09 at the team that has retained much of its nucleus from the 2007-08 NBA Championship-winning squad.”
In other words, Phoenix will have to deal with Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Rajon Rondo—plus new addition Rasheed Wallace.
PRECEDENT SET
A win tonight for Paul and company would advance the Celtics to 7-0 for the second time within three years. The last time Boston started out was in 2007-2008 when they won their first eight en route to the NBA Championship.
Tune In
Tip-off of Friday night’s face-off is at 7:30 p.m. EST and the game airs locally on CSN.
