Zion Williamson’s NBA regular-season debut has been put on hold for several weeks as he recovers from a torn meniscus in his right knee. The news comes as a disappoint to many fans across the league who followed Zion’s remarkable season at Duke University a year ago and hoped to see him competing against NBA talent on a nightly basis once the season tips off in a few days.

Hopefully, this is just a one-time setback that doesn’t lead to any other issues, but Paul Pierce does think that losing weight would help mitigate potential injury issues for Zion down the road because Paul had a similar situation in his playing days.

“He’s carrying so much weight, and he’s so athletic,” Pierce said. “I think he’s going to have to lose a little bit more weight.”
