The Los Angeles Lakers have statistically been one of the worst teams in the NBA so far this season, and it is a major reason for the team’s slow start. The Lakers have allowed the most point in the paint per game in the league, and they are last in the NBA in contested shots.

Paul cited the lack of rim protection outside of Javale McGee as a major part of the problem, but the recent addition of Tyson Chandler may be able to resolve some of their defensive woes.

“I see no defensive philosophy. You have no shot-blocking once Javale McGee comes out of the paint, so these guys are getting pounded on the boards,” Pierce said. “And then, the pick-and-roll defense, it’s bad. There’s no communication.”
