In a feature by Paul Pierce, he discussed how San Antonio head coach Gregg Popovich has maintained all this success throughout the years.

“It’s really hard to believe the transition he’s made from David Robinson, Tim Duncan, and now Kawhi Leonard to go along with Tony Parker and of course Manu Ginobili. You can tell he has a firm grasp on all his players who are well coached, well disciplined.”

Does Pierce think Popovich is doing a great job with the media?

“I love how Pop handles the media, sarcastic, funny!”

How did your team approach the Spurs?

“We knew we had to play a perfect game, they were a team that just didn’t make mistakes.”

How impressed are you with Pop’s coaching this year?

“This year may be his greatest coaching year. He doesn’t have his best player.”

Ranking his top coaches, Pierce certainly puts him in his top 3 all time.

“I would never bet on Gregg Popovich missing the playoffs.”
