Paul Pierce joined ESPN’s NBA Countdown and discussed where the Houston Rockets’ mindset and priorities stand.

Rockets’ General Manager Daryl Morey claims that beating the Warriors is “the only thing we think about.”

Could that mindset put the Rockets at risk? Paul Pierce might fear that to be true.

“If you beat the Golden State Warriors and then lose in the next round, is that a successful season?” Pierce said. “Then, what are you playing for?… Great year guys, we beat the Warriors, but we don’t have a title to show for it.”

Pierce also mentions that they should worry about who they are going to face out of the Eastern Conference in the Finals.

“We all know that, most likely, Cleveland is probably going to be in the Finals.” Pierce said. “Just beating Golden State and you’re happy with it, I mean that’s fine we know they are the class of the West, but there’s bigger goals than beating the Warriors, right?”
