Recently, the Memphis Grizzlies fired their head coach David Fizdale after an 0-8 stretch, and a public feud with star player Marc Gasol. Gasol was benched for an entire fourth quarter of a recent loss to the Brooklyn Nets, and was unhappy about his lack of playing time.

According to Paul Pierce, the firing doesn’t make a lot of sense. Fizdale’s team had been hampered by injuries to role players and star point guard Mike Conley. No matter what, Memphis was going to be a fringe playoff team this year due to the loss of key players for their “Grit and Grind” mentality.

At the same time, the Truth notes that the NBA is a players’ league. You have to get along with your stars as a head coach.
