Paul Pierce lauded the move by the Boston Celtics to bring Kyrie Irving to the TD Garden, but the future Hall of Famer says the throne still belongs to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

No. 34 spoke on ESPN’s The Jump about Boston’s status as the No. 2, saying that, while Cleveland is still at the top, the next step for the new-look Celtics is to dethrone the three-time defending Eastern Conference champs.

“These are guys who are hungry for a championship,” he continued. “Boston knows that they’re close. They’ve been to the Eastern Conference Finals, they won the East last year. They figured that the next step is going to the Finals.”
